Water Conservation School PROGRAM

H2O LAB! provides locally based water education to (4th, 5th, 7th, & 8th grade) classrooms in Fort Bend, Galveston, and Harris counties at no cost to the teachers or students. The TEKS-aligned lessons allow teachers to easily integrate the program into their classroom. Materials and resources are available through the program’s secure online web application, where teachers can access on-demand tutorials, download digital lesson plans in multiple languages, and track student activities and assessment data submitted through the online portal. Both teachers and students have exciting opportunities to win cool prizes as they complete activities and also receive a free take-home water conservation kit filled with products that can be used to save water at home.

The program aims to teach students to value water in our region, provide tools and resources to help families build water-saving habits, and raise awareness about subsidence and ways to prevent it. Local entities make this program available through their generous support and sponsorship!

For Teachers

H2O Lab! is offered 100% FREE to classrooms in Fort Bend, Galveston, and Harris counties and provides teachers with materials to teach students about Texas water resources.

SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION

The Water Conservation School Program was established in 1994 to provide water conservation education for 3rd through 6th graders in the region. This program is available at no cost for teachers and students through the support of program sponsors.
As a water provider, business, individual, or other entity, you can sponsor local schools to receive the H2O LAB! School Program. In exchange for a sponsor’s generous support, sponsorships are eligible to receive groundwater certificates that can be applied toward their well permit.

  • If you are an individual, business, or private entity interested in sponsoring, please submit a sponsorship form. 
  • If you are a water provider, such as a city or Municipal Utility District, interested in sponsoring must enter into an Interlocal Agreement with the District. For more information, please email our Water Conservation Program or refer to our general information letter.

Below are tools to show kids ways to make every drop count! Geared towards teachers, educators, and parents, these water learning activities engage learners of all ages.

Water is a valuable resource that we often mistreat and misuse because we mistakenly believe it will simply go through the water cycle and be “renewed.” A child’s understanding of where water comes from and how we use it is essential for meeting educational requirements and encouraging lifelong water conservation.
