Water Conservation School Program Contest Winners

Artwork Contest

Students are encouraged to participate in the artwork contest by creating a drawing that focuses on the importance of the community using water responsibly. Examples of topics include water conservation best practices, water use behaviors, and protecting our aquifers. One winner is selected each school year to win an Amazon gift card and will have their artwork showcased on the following year’s take-home water conservation kit.

Ashley illustrated 5 easy steps to conserve water through her captivating artwork submission. When asked what her favorite part of the program was, she shared that learning about ways to conserve water and using the take-home water conservation kits was very helpful!

2024-2025 Artwork Contest Winner

School: Trinity Klein Lutheran School

Marleigh’s artistic talent shines through her illustration, showcasing ways to save water. She spent two days creating her artwork, and her favorite part of the school program was doing all the experiments!

Video Contest

Students are encouraged to participate in the video contest by creating a short video about what they learned in the water conservation school program. One winner is selected each school year to win an Amazon gift card and will have their artwork showcased on the Smarter About Water website.

School: Christ The Redeemer Catholic School

Luis created a captivating video that raises awareness of the importance of water conservation and subsidence. He found learning about subsidence was the most interesting part of the program and was shocked that “…if we drain too much water out at the same time, it’ll cause subsidence.”

Vida’s creativity really stood out, combining drawings and seamless video editing to share how to conserve water. Her video was inspired by the ones she watched from the H2O LAB! lessons in class.
